FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2008 OATA Annual Business Meeting and SymposiumRegistration form LINK in Adobe ReaderOklahoma Athletic Trainers’ Association Clinical Symposium & Business Meeting May 17th & 18th, 2008 Oklahoma State University – Stillwater, OK Dear Members, I hope all of you are having a great 2008. This years’ annual meeting is in its planning stages and again we are very excited about the upcoming event. The meeting will be Saturday, May 17th and Sunday, May 18th on the campus of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK. All presentations, vendors, and the business meeting will be on the fourth floor of the Student Union. We are again pleased to have the Atherton Hotel (located within the Student Union) as our host hotel. We have locked in special room rates; however rooms are limited so please make your reservations early. See our website www.oata.net for a link to the hotel. Also when making your reservations, please mention you are with the OATA. The meeting this year will be highlighted by our cadaver lab which be held Saturday morning in the Vet Med lab. The cadaver lab this year will be presented at a reduced rate. Please if you are planning to attend the cadaver lab, get your registration in early due to limited space. We are also pleased to announce the induction of former OATA president and Head Athletic Trainer at the University of Tulsa, Scott McGonagle, into the OATA Hall of Fame. His induction will take place during our awards luncheon on Saturday. During our business meeting this year we will bring in our new President, Ron Walker, and say thank you to past president, Brian Coley, for all his hard work and dedication to our state and our profession, I hope you will all join me in thanking him for all that he has done. With Ron taking over as president, that means the position of president-elect is open, so if interested in this position please send a application letter and resume to Randy Aldret, Aldret@cox.net. Applications are due 6 weeks prior to the meeting. Our annual OATA golf tournament will be on Friday, May 16th, 2008. Please note we will have a later start time of 1:00, and don’t forget our “19th hole” barbeque at Matt O’Brien’s house after golf. We are happy to return to Cimarron Trails Golf Course in Perkins, OK. So get your foursomes ready. Again we are always looking for help with silent auction items which help benefit our scholarships; also if you are interested in speaking or know of someone please let me know so we can look to put them onto the meeting schedule.
