Friday, February 24th 2017; Tulsa OK: Rick Burkholder, Head Athletic Trainer for the Kansas City Chiefs will be speaking at The University of Tulsa Oxley College of Health Sciences. Burkholder will be the keynote presenter as a part of the Oklahoma Athletic Trainers’ Associations’ (OATA) annual Athletic Training Day. “I am always excited about speaking especially on athletic training a profession and career that I dearly love. It is always very gratifying to be able to speak to the future of this great profession and speaking to students at the OATA Athletic Training Day is something that I will cherish.”
Athletic Training Day is hosted by the OATA’s Student Leadership Council (SLC) and aims to increase awareness for athletic training. Participants will spend the day learning about the profession of athletic training, including jobs duties and educational requirements to become an athletic trainer.
The SLC is comprised of undergraduate and graduate students from the accredited athletic training programs in Oklahoma. These students have spent several months planning the event in coordination with the athletic training staff at the University of Tulsa. “As part of the Oxley College of Health Sciences, the Athletic Training Professional Program at TU has a 25 year history of Athletic Training Education. We are excited to have the opportunity to host such an important gateway opportunity for future athletic trainers.” – Ron H. Walker, Director of The Athletic Training Professional Program.
