Objectives:

  • Describe the dual task paradigm and the mechanism behind performance changes in dual task versus single task conditions and utilize to detect continued deficits following concussion and to track treatment effects
  • Understand the legislative process at the state level, recognize key stakeholders, and incorporate best practices from peer health professions for legislative advocacy
  • Utilizing the SSSA and PASS to evaluate and modify secondary school policy and procedures
  • Discuss the common impairments post ACL surgery, identify corrective strategies for impairments, and prevent ACL injury recurrence
  • Define the role of a school counselor and explore the relationship between athletic trainers and school counselors regarding mental health issues in the secondary school
  • Differentiate between a systems delivery mechanism and a traditional delivery mechanism and the benefits of systems planning in healthcare delivery
  • Recognize possible gaps in college faculty knowledge of post-concussion academic return guidelines, improve communication channels, and facilitate discussion with administration on the importance of concussion education for teaching faculty
  • Identify and apply best practices with regards to spinal injury, equipment removal, heat illness, and external hemorrhage.
