OATA SCHOLARSHIP INFO

The OATA offers scholarships to students enrolled in a master’s program that concludes in an athletic training degree. Criteria is available below along with the scholarship application. Each application must be accompanied by a recommendation by a Certified Member of the OATA. Applications must also include an unofficial transcript and in order for the scholarship to be awarded, an official transcript will need to be provided upon request.

Clinical AT Experience: List and describe your clinical athletic training experiences you have completed within your athletic training education program.

Community Service in AT: List and describe your service if you have used your skills as a supervised first responder (ex: recreational events, marathons, state/city games, Special Olympics, etc). These are times you have served as an athletic training student outside of your academic clinical assignment.

Association Membership related to AT or Allied Healthcare: Provide a list of your memberships. This includes but is not limited to NATA, District, State committees, other allied healthcare professional organizations, and College/University athletic training groups. Indicate your role (ex: Memeber, President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary).

Professional Development, Presentations, or Publications related to AT domains: Provide a list of your professional development opportunities, presentations, or publications during your academic career. This includes conferences you have attended and any presentation or publication you have made (ex: posters, other mediums) as a student.

Activites/Club/Community or Civic Service (not related to AT): Prove it of involvment in your local, regional, or state service activties. This includes but is not limited to fraternites/sororities, honor societies, or church/civic groups. Indicate your role (ex: Member, President, Committee Chair, etc).

Previous Awards and Honors: Provide a list of your previous awards and honors. (ex: Eagle Award for Consistent Leadership)

Question 1: Identify and describe your most meaningful athletic training experience (classroom, clinical assignment, job, or research lab) and how it has influenced your future career goals.

Question 2: Explain a situation whre you served as a leader during - a group project, an organized work project or activity, or a community service project. Explain in detail your role and how individuals responded to your leadership.

Question 3: In your opinion, wat is one of the most important issues facing athltic trainers in today's healthcare community and what role do you hope to play in addressing this issue?
